- It should be noted that most Life agents have a Certificate of Authority to sell Life Insurance and a Certificate of Authority to sell Accident and Sickness Insurance. Accordingly, they must have 30 hours of Continuing Education each year – 15 hours dealing with Life Insurance (for Level I agents, 15 hours of LLQP material is mandatory), and 15 hours of accredited A&S material.
- In Quebec , all material has to be accredited by the Chambre de la sécurité financière who also tracks the number of hours a license holder has obtained. All life agents must have 40 hours of Professional Development Units, PDUs as they are called, 30 PDUs from General Subjects and 10 PDUs from Insurance of persons. An A&S agent requires 20 PDUs, 15 from General Subjects and five from Insurance of persons, dealing with Accident and Sickness Products.
